Title: Flower Girl
My piece depicts a young girl with roses over her and she looks focused. The most obvious element is value. The most obvious principle is contrast.
To create this piece, I envisioned a picture in my mind and then sketched it out on paper. Next, I made sure that everything was in the right spot and how I imagined it in my head. Then, I started shading in all the right places with the right values.
My inspiration for this piece was on focus and loneliness, because of the roses. The emotion you can see on my persons face is mostly loneliness and how she looks focused she is on something.
My goal as an artist was to take my original drawings and turn them into something more realistic and try to do the best that I could. I did reach my goal because I learned a lot about different things and now I could apply them to the next this I redraw and redesign.
By creating this piece, I learned a lot about how to shade and which spots to shade in, as well as how to draw a better realistic eye and hair that looks full. Overall, I do like this piece because of how realistic I could make it, it really does look better and I have improved with different elements. I will use what I learned on this piece for the future works with where shading goes, how to place the eyes, nose and mouth and how the hair would look with less or more highlights.
Title: Dark Side
My artwork is a monochromatic, purple acrylic painting. The tile I gave it is "Ellie". The subject matter is kind of like the dark side of things. The girl on the bed has just recently lost her best friend to a car accident so she tried to speak to her and see her again.
The medium my artwork is made from acrylic paints; both matted and gloss. I used detail paint brushed and large paint brushes to get into large areas with colour.
My friends really inspire my artwork, so I put their inspiration and my art style together as one to make something new. My work does express a personal/social issue. There are many people who would like to get back in touch with their loved ones whos passed on, but if they do wish to try that, they never know what's really going to show up.
My goal as an artist is to make people feel something that they might be able to connect and relate to personally and emotionally.
I really like the way I did this acrylic painting, I say it looks very nice, clean and the way I imagined it in my head.
Title: Slenderman
My artwork looks like a dark, dimly lit side road. The subject matter is the famous Creepypasta: Slenderman. That's actually what the name of the piece is, Slendeman.
The media my artwork is made from was sharpie pen and micron pen. The sharpie pen to get into the darker spots and the micron to make lighter and somewhat darker/medium spots. The process I used was to get into the darker parts of the artwork, then the other shades along with a black/gray watercoulour background.
The person who inspired my artwork was Shawn Coss who does creepy, not so realistic drawings. I wanted to try and show the creepiness that this character can still give some people today, even though its been years since he was first made up.
My goal as an artist is to create some things that can and might give the viewer a meaning or feeling. I think I did that with this one, like my others probably have done by giving off the creepy vibe.
I learned how to crosshatch better while doing this, the final piece is exactly what I imagined it to be like. This piece might influence my future artwork by how I did it and what medias I used to make it better next time.
Title: Pisces
This piece has a Japanese style look to it, made out of Watercolours. The title of it is called "Pisces", the 12th and final Zodiac sign. With the title being what it is, the subject matter of this artwork are the fish in the water.
This artworks media was Watercolour, which was actually really fun to use. I use wet on dry painting and wet on dry painting to create what I did in my watercolour artwork.
I tried to do something different that what I did with my other pieces, trying to switch from the dark and creepy side to do something new, but I'll get back to doing that in the next thing I do. My artwork was made from my Zodiac sign and my love of Japan and cats. The two fish going in opposite directions are for the Pisces symbol, )-(.
I want to make pieces that people can grab onto the meaning easily with, to understand what its about an the feelings it gives them. Either happiness, creepiness or somewhat of both.
I learned how to use watercolour in a realistic way, making a tree that looks really real for the first time using this media. The final piece is the way that I imagined it to be, I really like it. I think that more people will want to do pieces like this as inspiration for their Zodiac sign, to make them feel more comfortable to show who and what they are.
Title: Garden
My art work is a clay coil pot with roses, rain droplets and a snake resting at the top. The subject matter are the roses and the snake, making it mean that snakes can be as beautiful as roses, but with the thorns, they can both hurt if not careful. The title of it is "Garden".
My artworks media is made from clay, as the projects name was "Advanced Clay Coil Pot". I used some tools that are used for working with clay so that I could get a smooth, nice looking finish in the end.
My goals as an artist is to make artwork and pieces that reflect who I am as a person and the things that make me feel good, as well as t get the person who looks at them and gets a somewhat connection to them or feeling.
I learned how to make a rose out of clay and how to do a tall sculpture out of something as delicate as clay to make something out of my head and for a good use in my home, as well as it to be a stable piece that would not fall when setting it down.
Title: Perspective
My artwork is a girl sitting against a wall with her feet looking like its closer than the rest of her body. The title of this piece is "Perspective". The most obvious element in my piece is colour, you can see it in her clothes, her eyes, her hair and the wall she is sitting on.
The media I used in this artwork was watercolour, I thought it'd look better than with the Prisma colours. I used wet on dry over wet on wet when using the media, let it dry and then add more when I wanted to make it darker in some areas. It took some time, but it turned out looking good.
My friends inspired my artwork, giving tips on how to draw what I was going for and how to get it to look right at least. I wanted the viewers to feel like they could feel comfortable and casual in whatever they wear, just like the girl in the picture is wearing high boots, a short skirt and a crop top and sitting in a comfortable position on a brick wall.
My goals as an artist is to get the viewer to fell an emotion that will relate them with the piece. I think this piece helped, but maybe most people will get the message, if not.
I learned more on how to do watercolour pieces and how to make the look better and have texture in them. The final work is how I imagined it to look, it has the right colours I was going for and the right hades, along with how it was drawn.
Title: K-Pop
The title of it is "K-Pop". it is of two popular BTS Korean members named Jungkook and Taehyung. This piece is also made personally for my younger sister, who is obsessed with this K-Pop group, making her happy.
This artwork was made with Oil Pastels, as I used my fingers to blend in the heavy pressure and light pressures. I tried to make this look as realistic as possible, and I say that it came out really well.
Scrolling around on Instagram a lot, I see a lot of artists and artwork things that I follow. I came across some BTS fanart artwork and decided to try and do something like that, which is kind of like my inspiration. The feeling that I'm trying to let come out of it to others is that friendship and being together is important, like the two BTS members that are in the piece. In real life, those two are practically insuperable.
My goal as an artist is to make things that have a big or somewhat meaning to it that can be able to jump out at people and they'll get what its about. To be honest, I don't really know if this piece helped me do that. I know what I'm going for with it to mean, but I don't know if others will get it that easy.
My overall thoughts on my artwork is that it looks really well and good. The colours, blends and everything looks like that. Those are my thoughts, but other people have their own and we don't know what they are until they speak about them. This is what I imagined it would look like.
Title: Resident Evil Leon
My artwork is a character from the popular video game Resident Evil. My "Subject Matters" name is Agent Leon S. Kennedy, where he is in Racoon City when an outbreak of a virus comes out and turns everyone into Zombies. My title of the piece is the name of the character, Leon Kennedy.
I created my artwork by drawing out practice sketches of my subject. When I got it the way I wanted it to look, I drew that one onto my final paper and then began looking through magazines to find the colours I would need to create the collage.
My artwork does not really have a meaning or big idea to it. Resident Evil has been a family game we've always played ever since the first PlayStation released, so its been kind of a family thing for everyone to play on Xbox or PS. Well, I guess that kind of is a meaning then?
I want people to know that they can make anything they want in any style with any type of art media, weather it be realistic or even someone who does semi-realistic, cartoonish style (Like anime) as my goal for other people.
I learned how to use a different technique that I wasn't really comfortable with using or how I would even really use it in a piece, but it really did turn out well and I like it.
Title: Believe
This piece is called "Believe". It is a blue mask with a golden butterfly on the left side of the face, it is also from a famous band called Hollywood Undead. The most obvious element in this is the colours, how the different shades make the big words pop out to the viewer and give them a meaning. The definite principle is the contrast in the mask and with the three butterflies in the bottom left corner. The quote in this painting is from their older songs called "Believe", hence the title for this piece. "My heart bests heavy in an open chest and I wanna say goodbye but there's nobody left."
The way I created this art work was from acrylic paints. Since I did good with my last one on this media, I decided that it was best for me to use them again and make it pop out more. First, I mapped out the mask so that I could see where it would be. Second, I added the black background while no getting into the masks area. Then painted on the butterflies and the words, the bolded ones being the shades of purple, then for a nice background I used white splatter paint to top it all off.
The meaning for this painting is all in the quote and mask itself. "My hear beats heavy in an open chest" means that the person has a heart, feelings and life. "And I wanna say goodbye but there's nobody left" means that they're wanting to say bye to everything and everyone they have left with them, but they say there is "nobody" with them to say goodbye to. The mask itself means to hide all of the pain that they feel behind the lyrics, making them look like a happy person behind the mask with the golden butterfly.
My goal for this is to let people feel that its okay to say what you're feeling, like this lyric, even if you're being covered by a mask that hides how you're face is expressing yourself.
I really love this painting, I think it looks great and that the meaning can get through so easily to other people without them having to think too hard on it to get it. It looks nice, clean and really smooth and cool with the white splatter paint over the canva.
